Doha: Member states of the Emergency Arab-Islamic summit convened in Doha have confirmed their support for Qatar's mediation efforts, alongside key partners Egypt and the United States, to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the summit's final communique expressed firm backing for the mediating countries, primarily Qatar, Egypt, and the USA, in their efforts to halt the aggression against the Gaza Strip.
The communique highlighted Qatar's constructive and commendable mediation role, emphasizing its positive impact on promoting security, stability, and peace. The statement categorically rejected any attempts to justify Israeli attacks on Qatar or any Arab or Islamic country, labeling them as violations of international law and the United Nations Charter, which threaten ongoing mediation efforts.
The summit members also condemned Israeli threats against Qatar and other nations, urging the international community to denounce these provocations and take deterrent measures. The Arab League Council's "Joint Vision for Security and Cooperation in the Region" resolution was welcomed, stressing the need for collective security among Arab and Islamic countries to address common challenges.
Furthermore, the summit rejected Israeli occupation plans and criticized attempts to displace Palestinians from territories occupied since 1967, calling such actions crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing. The importance of implementing the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan and initiating Gaza's reconstruction was underscored, with a call for international donor support and participation in the upcoming Gaza Reconstruction Conference in Cairo.
The statement condemned Israeli policies causing humanitarian crises, accusing Israel of using blockades and denial of essentials as warfare tactics against Palestinians. It urged the international community to take urgent action to halt these practices and ensure humanitarian aid access.
Members warned of the consequences of potential Israeli annexation of Palestinian territories and called for Israel's unconditional withdrawal. The statement urged international legal action against Israel, including sanctions and reviews of diplomatic relations, to hold it accountable for its actions.
Lastly, the summit called for a review of Israel's UN membership compatibility, citing violations of UN resolutions, and emphasized adherence to international legitimacy and relevant UN resolutions to achieve peace and security, while rejecting any rhetoric promoting Islamophobia.
