Kuwait city: Representatives of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) concluded an exploratory visit to Kuwait held from February 8 to 10, organized in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the visit was initiated at the invitation of Kuwait, aligning with its strategic partnership with the United Nations and fulfilling its international human rights commitments as part of its 2024-2026 Human Rights Council membership.
The Foreign Ministry stated that the visit encompassed meetings and field tours with various government bodies and national institutions, as well as civil society organizations. These included the ministries of justice, interior, defense, social affairs and information, the Public Prosecution, and specialized institutes.
The ministry highlighted that the purpose of the visit was to provide OHCHR representatives with insights into Kuwait's human rights framework, legislation, and policies. This initiative aims to assess current efforts, identify areas for development, and enhance technical cooperation to further align with international standards.
