Official: Kuwait Firmly Committed to Justice, Rule of Law

Al Asimah: Kuwait has been firmly committed to the UN principles regarding boosting justice and the rule of law, and it follows an inclusive approach linking security, justice, and sustainable development, said a Kuwaiti official on Monday. Attorney General Justice Bader Al-Mosad announced this during a speech delivered before the 34th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) kicked off earlier in the day in Vienna.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Mosad praised the efforts of Ghada Waly, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), for her support of member states. He noted that Kuwait has updated its legislation and judicial institutions to align with international commitments, highlighting the enactment of laws addressing corruption, child rights, and other issues as part of Kuwait Vision 2035.

In his speech, Al-Mosad reviewed Kuwait's initiatives against human trafficking, noting the establishment of a national committee and the launch of a national strategy for 2025-2028, along with updates to foreigners' residency laws. He also emphasized the role of Kuwait's Ministry of Interior in addressing crime, particularly cybercrimes and illegal trafficking, using methods that respect human rights and enhance the rule of law.

Al-Mosad reiterated Kuwait's belief in the importance of international collaboration and sharing expertise to tackle criminal challenges. He affirmed Kuwait's dedication to achieving sustainable development goals, particularly Goal 16, which focuses on justice and peace.

He concluded by emphasizing that Kuwait will continue to cooperate positively and constructively with international partners to strengthen justice and security globally.
