OAPEC Chief Advocates for Efficient and Diversified Energy Resources.

Kuwait City: Secretary General of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), Jamal Al-Loughani, emphasized the need for enhancing energy efficiency and diversifying energy resources in the Arab region during a statement made on Wednesday. According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Loughani highlighted that energy efficiency should be viewed as a crucial strategy for reducing and optimizing energy consumption without compromising output. He outlined several challenges, including the increasing demand for energy, while speaking at a training course organized by OAPEC in collaboration with the Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI) company, held from November 4 to 6. Al-Loughani advocated for coordinated investments in research and development focusing on energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, alongside continued investments in the oil and gas sectors. He underscored the ongoing importance of oil and gas in fulfilling the world's energy needs. In 2023, oil and gas accounted for 55 percent of the global energy output, with solar and wind energy contributing approximately 5.5 percent.
