NCCAL Unveils New Mural in Sharq Area Highlighting Maritime Heritage

Kuwait city: The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) revealed a new mural in the Sharq area in cooperation with the Embassy of Canada in Kuwait. This unveiling is part of the cultural exchange program and the National Mural Arts Project, known as The Third Art.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the mural is a collaboration between Kuwaiti artist Yousef Saleh and Canadian artist Brian Byung. This joint effort provides opportunities for both Kuwaiti and international artists and aims to strengthen cultural exchange, stated Dr. Mohammed Al-Jassar, Secretary-General of the Council.

Al-Jassar noted that the mural showcases the maritime heritage theme, reflecting the cultures of Kuwait and Canada. He mentioned that the Cabinet approved the project in October 2023, managed by engineer Abdullah Yaseen, with the goal of enhancing the country's aesthetics.

The project began in February 2024 as part of the Al-Qurain Cultural Festival. It involved Kuwaiti artists painting electrical transformers in the Messila area in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity, alongside similar initiatives in partnership with international artists.
