NCCAL Int’l Music Festival to be held November 17

The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) announced the 24th edition of its International Music Festival is set for November 17 and will include a special honoring ceremony for singer Mohammad Al-Bloushi. In a statement at a press conference on Wednesday, NCCAL Assistant Secretary-General for the Arts Sector and head of the festival Musaad Al-Zamil said the event will be held until November 22 and will include different kinds of music. The opening ceremony will be held under the patronage of Minister of Information and Culture, Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center. The ceremony to honor Al-Bloushi will include playing his most famous songs, led by Maestro Dr Mohammad Al-Baijan and other top artists, he added. Al-Bloushi deserves such an honor as he has a rich artistic history and has graduated from the Higher Institute Of Musical Art, noted Al-Zamil. The opening ceremony will also include honoring of musicians from Kuwait, Egyp t and Bahrain, for their contributions to the music field, he added. The second night will see Omani musician Mariam Al-Manjia playing a number of eastern and western music as part of the "cello night" event, as well as a seminar on Al-Bloushi's history in the singing world, he said. The third night will be a dinner ceremony for the participants and a seminar on local and international Arabic music, while the fourth night will include a greek music show on the clarinet and the fifth will be an eastern music show, led by Maestro Dr Ayoub Khodher, Al-Zamil added. Entry tickets for the festival will be sold on Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center website, he said. Source: Kuwait News Agency
