Nazaha Joins UN Workshop to Boost Beneficial Ownership Transparency

Kuwait city: Kuwait's Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) participated in an international virtual workshop organized by the United Nations' GlobE Network. The workshop focused on enhancing beneficial ownership transparency across Kuwait and the GCC states.

According to Kuwait News Agency, this workshop followed Nazaha's involvement in a discussion panel on beneficial ownership transparency, which took place on the sidelines of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in December 2025. The workshop aimed to review legislation related to identifying beneficial owners in companies and legal arrangements.

Nazaha highlighted Kuwait's nationwide initiative to ensure compliance with beneficial ownership disclosure requirements. It emphasized the importance of data accuracy through technical integration with the "Kuwait ID" and "Sahel" government platforms. The authority also discussed the GCC Guide on beneficial ownership practices, aiming to unify regional efforts in line with international standards, such as those set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Nazaha emphasized that transparency in beneficial ownership is crucial for combating money laundering and corruption, preventing the misuse of shell companies and sanctions evasion, and enhancing integrity and international cooperation in asset recovery.
