Nazaha Chief Emphasizes Need for Strategic Vision in Anti-Corruption Efforts

Kuwait city: President of the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim, highlighted the necessity of a clear strategic vision in combating corruption, underscoring the importance of accurate data and reliable indicators to enhance legislation, refine procedures, and amend policies.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Ibrahim made these remarks during Nazaha's hosting of the annual meeting of the GCC Committee of Anti-Corruption Experts. He emphasized the need for precise systems and effective tools to measure and analyze corruption, which would aid in detecting and assessing corruption risks, identifying new methods, and supporting national authorities in addressing vulnerabilities and strengthening preventive measures.

Al-Ibrahim stressed that Nazaha prioritizes the development of integrated methodologies for measuring corruption, collecting and analyzing data, and designing national indicators that reflect local realities. He also highlighted the significance of international and regional cooperation in accessing successful models and scientific approaches, which facilitate the development of anti-corruption measurement tools tailored to societal needs.

In her remarks, Anwar Al-Qadeeri, Director of International Cooperation at Nazaha, noted the event's focus on corruption measurement, highlighting that GCC countries are leading supporters and initiators of related UN resolutions. Al-Qadeeri confirmed that global efforts have coalesced to develop accurate, objective indicators that assist states in monitoring their international commitments and bolstering national anti-corruption measures in accordance with the UN convention against corruption.

She mentioned that previous meetings have tackled crucial issues such as strengthening preventive mechanisms, enhancing actions during crises, fostering institutional and societal partnerships to protect public funds, advancing integrity, and leveraging technology in anti-corruption initiatives.
