NATO condemns North Korean test of missiles

NATO Thursday strongly condemned North Korea?’s latest test of a long-range ballistic missile, saying it is in direct violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions.

Since last year, North Korea has conducted a record number of ballistic missile launches. These provocations by Pyongyang undermine regional and international security, said NATO?’s Deputy Spokesperson Dylan White in a statement.

“North Korea must stop its reckless behaviour, abandon its unlawful nuclear and ballistic missile programmes, and engage in good-faith diplomacy. NATO stands in strong solidarity with our partners in the region: Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, and New Zealand,” he added.

According to media reports, tensions have been rising in the region, as North Korea has already fired 27 missiles this year, the latest on Thursday raising alarm in northern Japan.
