Kuwait city: The Ministry of Social Affairs announced the successful conclusion of its emergency relief campaign to support the residents of the Gaza Strip, garnering a total of KD 6,546,078, equivalent to approximately USD 21.4 million, in donations.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the campaign spanned three days and was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It involved the participation of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and several Kuwaiti charities and foundations. Ministry spokesperson Youssef Saif highlighted the significant contributions from various entities, including KD 500,000 (approx. USD 1.6 million) from the Secretariat General of Awqaf and KD 1.5 million (approx. USD 4.9 million) from the Insan Charity Society.
Saif also noted the substantial online donations collected via the "Kuwait Beside You" platform, managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs, which raised KD 2,515,795 (approx. USD 8.2 million). Additionally, the Direct Aid Society collected KD 1,318,854 (approx. USD 4.3 million), the Patient Helping Fund Society gathered KD 476,012 (approx. USD 1.5 million), and the Revival of Islamic Heritage Society raised KD 235,443 (approx. USD 770.3).
The campaign is part of Kuwait's continued humanitarian efforts to support just causes and assist those impacted by crises, focusing on providing essential food supplies to families affected in Gaza. In-kind food donations were accepted following approved guidelines, with all food items required to be purchased from the Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company, as per Cabinet Resolution No. (1461).
The Kuwait Red Crescent Society is currently coordinating the distribution of aid to various relief agencies located in Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine.
