The Interior Ministry warned the public on Monday against SMS messages sent by scammers asking people to pay traffic fines through a sent link or face bigger fines.
In a press statement, the ministry said that it does not send messages to threaten people with larger fines if they did not pay traffic violation fines.
These are scamming operations that use a website cloning the ministry’s website to deceive people, the ministry cautioned.
It noted that it only sends alert messages of the traffic violations to violators on the government digital platform, Sahel application.
It urged the public to make sure that they deal with the ministry’s official website before any payment operation.
