MoH: Robotic Surgery, Pillar of Surgical Development

Kuwait city: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi affirmed that robotic surgery has become a cornerstone of the surgical development system in Kuwait, given the improved control it offers, particularly in complex surgeries and oncology procedures.

According to Kuwait News Agency, this statement was made during Dr. Al-Awadhi's speech at the opening of the 21st Surgeons' Conference, held concurrently with the 10th Conference of the Kuwait Surgeons Association. The event, themed "Innovation, Precision, and Multidisciplinary Care in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery," spans three days.

Dr. Al-Awadhi emphasized the significance of the conference, describing it as one of the most prominent scientific gatherings in the field of surgery and among the oldest medical conferences in Kuwait across all specialties. The conference attracts an elite group of experts from Kuwait and abroad, with the participation of healthcare professionals, surgeons, and resident doctors. The Ministry of Health is committed to supporting and developing advanced surgical services by qualifying and training national cadres.

The primary goal of these scientific and technological advancements is to enhance patients' quality of life. Dr. Al-Awadhi noted that the ministry aims to provide precise, safe, and fast recovery healthcare based on best global practices and the latest medical innovations.

Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee Dr. Mousa Khorsheed highlighted that the conference addresses key topics, most notably gastrointestinal surgery, with participation from specialized doctors worldwide. The discussions focus on the latest diagnostic methods for benign and malignant diseases, as well as modern treatment approaches.

The conference features several workshops, including sessions on robotic surgery procedures at Farwaniya Hospital, and two workshops at the Faculty of Medicine designed to train 35 trainee doctors. Dr. Khorsheed lauded the Ministry of Health's ongoing support for such conferences and its dedication to fostering scientific and research excellence in healthcare. The conference's 21-year history reflects a continuous and distinguished academic journey.
