Militant Attack Results in Death of Two Security Personnel in Balochistan

Mastung: Two paramilitary personnel of Levies, tasked with guarding a polio vaccination team, were gunned down on Wednesday in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, according to official reports.

According to Kuwait News Agency, a senior administrative official, Assistant Commissioner Akram Harifal, informed the media that the incident took place in the Teeri area of Mastung district. The Levies personnel assigned to protect the polio vaccination team were targeted, resulting in the immediate death of one officer, while the other succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital. Following the attack, security forces promptly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. In response to the attack, security measures for polio vaccination teams have been heightened.

Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, expressed strong condemnation of the attack, as stated by the PM Office. He expressed sorrow over the loss of the Levies personnel and labeled the assailants as enemies of humanity, vowing that they would be brought to justice. The Prime Minister reiterated that such incidents would not shake the government's resolve to eliminate polio from the country.
