Beirut: Lebanon has lodged a formal complaint with the United Nations Security Council and the UN Secretary General, citing violations of Lebanese sovereignty by the Israeli occupation over the past few months.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Lebanese foreign ministry announced that its mission to the UN submitted the complaint, requesting it be registered as an official document of the UNSC and the UN General Assembly. The complaint highlights 2,036 violations of Lebanese sovereignty by the Israeli occupation during October, November, and December 2025, as well as a breach of UNSC resolution 1701.
The Lebanese foreign ministry has called on the UNSC to compel the Israeli occupation to comply with resolution 1701, cease hostile actions, and fully withdraw from occupied Lebanese territories. Furthermore, the ministry urged the UNSC to ensure the occupation halts its systematic violations, releases prisoners, stops threatening Lebanese territorial integrity and political independence, and ceases attacks on UN peacekeepers.
The Lebanese government reiterated its commitment to abiding by resolution 1701 and emphasized its efforts to collect all weapons to place them under government control. The government is implementing a plan to assert control over all territories, which is progressing smoothly except in areas under occupation.
The statement added that the Lebanese government is prepared to engage in negotiations with Israel, aiming to end the occupation and halt attacks.
