Lebanese Prime Minister Urges Arab League to Pressure for End to Israeli Aggression

Beirut: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Saturday called on the Arab League to pressure the international community to halt Israeli attacks on Lebanon and to ensure the immediate withdrawal from all Lebanese territories. Salam made this appeal during his address at the fifth Arab Summit held in the Iraqi capital.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Salam emphasized Lebanon's commitment to implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which aligns with the country's dedication to international legitimacy, sovereignty restoration, and enhanced security. Despite Lebanon's adherence to the agreement to halt hostilities, Salam noted that Israeli forces have continued their daily breaches and have refused to release Lebanese prisoners.

The Lebanese Prime Minister also reiterated the government's commitment to reforms across various spheres, aiming to reassert state sovereignty over all territories and to ensure that arms possession is limited to state authorities. He underscored the importance of support from Arab nations for the success of Lebanon's governmental efforts, highlighting Beirut's policy of non-intervention in the domestic affairs of other states and its interest in forming strategic partnerships within the Arab world.

Salam further expressed his support for the Palestinian cause, condemning Israel's occupation policy, which he described as being characterized by systematic killing, comprehensive annihilation, and intentional starvation, particularly in Gaza.
