Beirut: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun affirmed Lebanon's insistence on complete Israeli troop pullout from southern Lebanon within the 60 days set period as declared on November 27. Aoun emphasized that any deviation from this timeline would contradict the promises made to Lebanon during earlier negotiations.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Lebanese Presidency released a statement following President Aoun's meeting with German Defense Minister Maragrita Robles at the presidential palace. During the meeting, Aoun highlighted that Israel's failure to fully withdraw would maintain tension in the border towns and impede the restoration of stability, preventing residents from returning to their homes.
President Aoun also mentioned that he had engaged in discussions with leaders from powerful nations. He expressed optimism about these talks, indicating they had been fruitful in applying pressure on Tel Aviv to comply fully with the withdrawal agreement.
German Defense Minister Maragrita Robles echoed Aoun's sentiments, underscoring the necessity for Israel to carry out a complete withdrawal from the south. Despite the accord granting a 60-day grace period, Israeli occupation forces have retained control over some border towns, continuing to conduct attacks and causing destruction to homes and properties.
