Lebanese Army Deployed in Naqoura Following Israeli Withdrawal

Naqoura: The Lebanese Army Command announced on Monday that its units have begun deploying in Naqoura, in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), after the Israeli occupation withdrew from it.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the deployment coincided with the meeting of the five-member committee to supervise the ceasefire agreement in Ras Al-Naqoura, with the presence of US President senior adviser, Amos Hochstein, as stated by the command. Engineering surveys of the town will be conducted to remove unexploded ordnance, they added.

Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, received Hochstein, accompanied by the head of the five-member committee, US General Jasper Jeffers. The discussions revolved around implementing the ceasefire in the south.

Despite the ceasefire on November 27 last year, Israeli occupation forces remain in several towns in southern Lebanon. The conflict escalated on September 23 when the Israeli occupation launched air raids on numerous areas, leading to the displacement and deaths of hundreds of thousands of residents.
