Kuwait City: 1978 marked a significant event in Kuwait's history when the Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, signed a decree appointing Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah as Crown Prince, following approval from the government. This pivotal moment set the stage for future leadership transitions in the country. According to Kuwait News Agency, 1981 was a transformative year for Kuwait's healthcare infrastructure. The opening of the Ibn Sina neurosurgery Hospital provided a 279-bed facility dedicated to specialized medical care. Additionally, Al-Jahra Hospital began operations, offering essential health services through its casualty, outpatient, and inpatient departments for residents of the Al-Jahra Governorate. In 1984, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah inaugurated the new building of Al-Amiri Hospital. The hospital had ceased operations in 1977 to undergo expansion and the introduction of new departments, enhancing its capacity to serve the medical needs of the community. Kuwait Central Library opened its d oors in 1986, offering the public access to an extensive collection of 60,000 publications, 20,000 Arab periodicals, 4,000 Western periodicals, and 9,000 rare books. This establishment marked a significant advancement in the country's educational and cultural resources. In 2004, Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah inaugurated the Sabah Al-Ahmad Coast Guard Base, a facility sprawling over 35,000 square meters. In the same year, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree for the establishment of the supreme council for planning and development, a 32-member council chaired by the Prime Minister, aimed at steering Kuwait's strategic growth. The year 2012 saw a leap in environmental innovation with the Kuwait Environment Public Authority (EPA) inaugurating the country's first wind-powered electricity station at the authority's headquarters, signaling a commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
