Kuwait’s Historical Milestones Highlight Nation’s Progress and Achievements

According to Kuwait News Agency, on this day in 1975, Kuwaiti Members of Parliament made a groundbreaking move by submitting a draft law to grant women the right to participate in elections, both as voters and candidates. However, the dissolution of the parliament prevented the bill from being discussed.

In 1994, a pivotal step was taken when Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree to establish the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute. This institution was aimed at enhancing the education and training of public prosecutors, members of the Fatwa and Legislation Department, and investigators, thereby strengthening the legal framework of the country.

The year 2003 marked the passing of former Minister Abdulaziz Al-Sarawi at the age of 76. Al-Sarawi, who served as the Social Affairs Minister in 1965 and Minister of Post and Telephone in 1975, was also elected as a Member of Parliament in 1967 and served as Ambassador to Iraq in 1984. He was renowned for his philanthropic activities.
