Kuwait’s Green Island Development Project to Boost Tourism, Says Information Minister

Kuwait city: A project to develop Kuwait's "green island" is seen as a step towards enhancing national tourism, Information Minister Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi said. The initiative aims to increase Kuwait's appeal as a tourism destination.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the project has strong support from Kuwait's political leaders, including His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The minister highlighted the project as a catalyst for tourism growth, potentially transforming Kuwait into a key destination for foreign tourists.

The ministry is working under a vision that encourages collaboration between the public and private sectors. This approach aligns with Kuwait's economic diversification efforts, aiming for continuous national development and prosperity.

The minister also mentioned the "Visit Kuwait" platform, which aims to introduce visitors to Kuwait's significant landmarks and tourist attractions. He noted the initiative's success amid a digital transformation within state bodies.

Anwar Al-Hulaila, chief executive of the Tourism Projects Company, described Kuwait's "green island" as a prominent tourism spot in Kuwait. He highlighted its history as the Gulf Arab region's first industrial island since 1988. The development project seeks to engage the private sector in national development, allowing contributions to major projects that promote growth in the tourism industry.

The partnership between the public and private sectors is a fundamental part of national development and economic diversification efforts, reinforcing Kuwait's position as a promising tourist destination and attracting foreign investment.

Khaled Al-Marzouq, deputy chairman and chief executive of local real estate firm "Abaad," emphasized the green island's enduring significance as a symbol of Kuwaiti tourism and public-private cooperation. Renovation efforts will introduce new facilities and upgrade existing ones, preserving the island's historical significance.
