Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Expresses Confidence in Bahrain’s Leadership of GCC

Kuwait city: Kuwait's Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council comes at a "delicate time" that requires "great efforts." He expressed his confidence in Manama's ability to effectively lead the pan-Gulf organization at this important stage. Minister Al-Yahya made this statement during a celebration held at the Bahraini Embassy in Kuwait to mark the National Day and the 26th anniversary of Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa's accession to the throne.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Kuwaiti top diplomat extended his sincere congratulations to the Bahraini leadership and people on this national occasion, wishing them continued progress and prosperity. The ceremony at the Bahrain embassy was attended by Kuwait's Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Fahad Yousuf Saud Al-Sabah, along with several foreign ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions in Kuwait.

Bahrain's Ambassador to Kuwait, Salah Al-Maliki, praised the strong relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Kuwait. Al-Maliki highlighted Bahrain's foreign policy, which is focused on moderation and constructive cooperation, aiming to promote dialogue, coexistence, peace, and sustainable development. These principles, he noted, have bolstered Bahrain's status as a reliable regional and international partner.

Ambassador Al-Maliki expressed pride in Bahrain's assumption of the rotating presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). He reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to strengthening Arabian Gulf cohesion and advancing joint GCC action to meet the aspirations of the people. Additionally, he noted Bahrain's recent election to a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council for the period 2026-2027, which he argued reflects the international community's confidence in Bahrain's foreign policy.

Ambassador Al-Maliki affirmed Bahrain's dedication to actively working toward international peace and security, advocating for Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause, enhancing international cooperation in sustainable development, and addressing global challenges.
