Kuwait’s Amir Rep.: Pivotal Moment to Renew Int’l Community Commitment to UN Reform

New york: His Highness the Amir's Representative, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, emphasized that the current occasion marks a pivotal moment for the international community to renew its commitment to reforming the United Nations and enhancing its working mechanisms. Upon his arrival at JFK International Airport in New York, His Highness the Crown Prince is set to lead Kuwait's delegation at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which coincides with the 80th anniversary of the UN's founding.

According to Kuwait News Agency, His Highness Sheikh Sabah was welcomed by Amiri Diwan Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Mazen Issa Al-Issa, Kuwait Ambassador to the US Sheikha Al-Zain Sabah Nasser Al-Sabah, and Kuwait Permanent Representative to the UN Tareq Mohammad Al-Bannai. His Highness the Crown Prince expressed honor in representing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at this significant session, which includes participation from 105 leaders and heads of state and government.

His Highness Amir's Representative highlighted the importance of any anticipated reform in contributing to a more efficient and effective international system that promotes peace, security, and development globally. The session's agenda features several high-level meetings, including a meeting on the two-state solution, co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of France.

His Highness Sheikh Sabah expressed optimism about the meeting, anticipating progress through the recognition of the State of Palestine by major and influential countries. This recognition is seen as a critical step towards Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.

Additionally, His Highness Sheikh Sabah expressed his intention to engage in bilateral meetings with various leaders to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues. He also plans to meet with financial institutions and major companies in the United States that partner with Kuwait, aiming to discuss future strategic plans that align with the objectives of Kuwait Vision 2035.
