Kuwaiti Paralympians Excel at Athletics Grand Prix


Tunis: Kuwaiti Paralympic champion Faisal Sorour secured a gold medal in the shot put “F42” event, while fellow athlete Dhari Bati earned a silver medal in the discus throw “F37” event at the Athletics Grand Prix.



According to Kuwait News Agency, Nasser Faraj, another Kuwaiti athlete, has qualified for the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships, scheduled to take place in India in September. This achievement was announced during the second day of the Tunis International Para Athletics Meeting held at Rades Olympic City, from June 16 to 18.



Nasser Al-Ajmi, head of the Kuwaiti delegation, congratulated the athletes and extended his gratitude to the technical staff, led by coach Ahmad Al-Harbi, for their efforts in enhancing the athletes’ performance. Al-Ajmi expressed appreciation for the support from the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Paralympic Committee and the management of the Kuwait Disabled Sports Club, encouraging athletes to strive for excellence in regional, international, and global competitions.



Faisal Sarour’s success continued, having also won a gold medal the previous day in the discus throw event during the first day of the tournament. Al-Ajmi emphasized the Kuwaiti Para Athletics Team’s readiness for the championship, highlighting the athletes’ excellent physical and technical condition following intensive training in recent weeks. He expressed confidence in their ability to represent Kuwait effectively.



The Kuwaiti national team consists of nine athletes: Faisal Sarour, Dhari Bati, Abdullah Al-Saif, Abdullah Al-Enezi, Nasser Faraj, Khaled Al-Rashidi, Abdullah Al-Saleh, Mohammed Al-Azmi, and Abdullah Al-Uthaina. This year’s event has attracted a record number of participants, with 500 male and female athletes competing in various disciplines.
