Kuwaiti Inventor Stresses Importance of Protecting IP Rights

Kuwait city: Kuwaiti inventor and engineer Sarah Aburjaib stressed the importance of nurturing innovators and protecting intellectual property rights to raise innovation rates in countries. This came during her participation in the Intellectual Property Week in Singapore, which kicked off with the participation of delegations from more than 40 countries and the attendance of over 5,000 participants. According to Kuwait News Agency, Aburjaib, CEO of ScansX and the first Kuwaiti and Arab to receive a World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) award, participated in a panel discussion titled "Value Creation through Intellectual Property: From Intangible Assets to Strategic Growth." She shared her work on creating an AI-powered handheld scanner that can instantly and non-invasively detect brain injuries, including tumors and clots, without needing an MRI or CT scan first. The Kuwaiti inventor emphasized that protecting intellectual property would boost innovation by providing legal and technological suppor t for research and development. IP Week 2025 was organized by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and in cooperation with WIPO. The forum will cover key IP topics like asset marketing, investor engagement, cross-border licensing, and dispute resolution. WIPO will also present sessions on the Madrid and Hague Systems, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and the IP marketplace to help startups and small businesses grow and innovate.
