Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti government has approved amendments to the existing traffic law, thereby increasing fines and penalties for specific traffic violations. During its weekly meeting on Wednesday, the cabinet agreed on amending law 67/1976, which governs traffic law violations and fines. According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al-Sabah. The amendments target violations such as crossing red traffic lights, reckless driving, illegal racing on public roads, exceeding speed limits, and driving on the wrong side of roads. These changes aim to enforce stricter penalties to enhance road safety and reduce traffic violations. The amended draft law will be sent to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for approval. The government's decision marks a significant step towards improving traffic regulation enforcement in Kuwait. The revised penalties are expected to serve as a deterrent against dangerous driving behaviors, ultimately contributing to safer roads in the country.
