Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Calls for End to Israeli Occupation for Just Peace

New York: Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya has emphasized that a just and comprehensive peace can only be achieved by ending the Israeli occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights. He described silence on the crimes committed in Gaza as "collusion with the executioner against the victim."

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Al-Yahya delivered this statement during a speech at the high-level international conference focused on settling the Palestinian issue through peaceful means and implementing the two-state solution at the United Nations headquarters. He highlighted the grave circumstances facing the Palestinian territories, particularly the Gaza Strip, which is experiencing unprecedented Israeli military aggression resulting in widespread casualties and destruction.

Al-Yahya welcomed recent steps by various countries towards peace and called on those yet to recognize Palestine to do so, seeing it as essential for achieving justice. He urged for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression and emphasized the need to protect civilians and infrastructure. He also called for the permanent opening of crossings to facilitate humanitarian aid.

The Minister rejected forced displacement aimed at altering the demographic reality in Palestinian territories and reaffirmed the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes as per UN Resolution No. (194). He advocated for international support of the Palestinian government to expand its authority and build an independent state.

Al-Yahya urged the international community to ensure civilian protection, hold violators accountable, and support efforts to revive the peace process as per international resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative. He stressed the urgency for ending the ongoing tragedy in Gaza and called for international action to halt the aggression and alleviate the humanitarian crisis.

Concluding his speech, Al-Yahya painted a grim picture of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, asking for global support to help the people suffering from deprivation and violence.
