Kuwait city: The Kuwaiti Diving Team of the Environmental Voluntary Foundation announced on Wednesday the success of its environmental campaign to clean Al-Zour coast south of the country, removing four tons of plastic waste, fishing nets, ropes, and barrels. Team leader Waleed Al-Fadhli highlighted the significance of the campaign, marking it as the official launch of a series of winter environmental initiatives aimed at cleaning all of Kuwait's coasts and islands.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Fadhli explained that Al-Zour was chosen for its environmental importance and biodiversity. The campaign lasted five days and strategically utilized low tide periods to facilitate the removal of accumulated waste from the shoreline areas. This effort was aligned with the initiative's goals to prevent waste accumulation during increased beach visits in the season.
Al-Fadhli further emphasized the importance of ensuring safe and sustainable coasts and noted the benefit of strong northern winds that typically bring marine debris ashore annually. He encouraged the public to volunteer during the winter, stressing that such campaigns are crucial for promoting environmental awareness.
