Kuwaiti Consul Affirms Commitment to Belt, Road Initiative at Hong Kong Summit

Kuwait city: The Consul General of the State of Kuwait in Hong Kong and Macau, Ambassador Naser Saqer Al-Ghanim, emphasized his country's dedication to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during the Belt and Road Summit. He highlighted Kuwait's early involvement in the initiative since 2014 and its alignment with the goals of Kuwait Vision 2035.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Consul General stressed Kuwait's appreciation for the efforts in organizing this significant international event. He noted Kuwait's active participation through various delegations from both public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Finance, Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), and Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC).

Ambassador Al-Ghanim expressed gratitude to the organizers, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), as well as the Kuwaiti delegations for their involvement, which demonstrates Kuwait's commitment to the BRI's objectives.

He pointed out Kuwait's focus on strategic sectors such as infrastructure, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, green technology, trade, investment, and innovation. These areas are considered essential for sustainable growth and the development of smart cities.

The Consul underscored the necessity of collective action in tackling global challenges like cybersecurity threats, digital divides, economic instability, and geopolitical tensions. He advocated for stronger regional and international partnerships to secure supply chains and enhance cooperation.

He reiterated Kuwait's openness policy and favorable investment environment, encouraging international partners to explore opportunities in major development projects under Vision 2035.

Ambassador Al-Ghanim concluded by highlighting Kuwait's stability, strategic location, and robust investment capacity, which position it as a unique regional and global hub. He expressed readiness to enhance cooperation and achieve mutual benefits with Belt and Road partners.
