Kuwait city: Namaa Charity, a branch of the Kuwait Social Reform Society, has entered into an agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland. The agreement, signed on Monday, aims to provide financial assistance to the returning refugees.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Saad Al-Otaibi, the executive chairman of the charity, stated that this initiative aligns with Kuwait's commitment to assisting individuals affected by wars and catastrophes. Al-Otaibi emphasized that the collaboration with the international agency reflects the adherence of national associations and charities to laws governing philanthropic activities.
The financial aid provided to Syrian families is intended to help them regain their lifestyle, focusing on productivity and self-reliance. Mohammad Al-Omar, deputy chairperson of the Reform Society, highlighted that the agreement specifically targets the poorest refugees.
Nisreen Rubaian, the UNHCR representative in Kuwait, noted that the contribution is timely for Syrian refugees striving for stability upon their return. Rubaian explained that financial assistance is one of the most effective methods of support, enabling refugees to cover essentials and housing costs during the initial months back in their country.
