Kuwait University Secures Second Place at Green Guardians Hackathon

Kuwait city: A team from Kuwait University's College of Engineering and Petroleum claimed the second spot at the Green Guardians Hackathon competition held in Bahrain, the university announced recently. The event was hosted at Exhibition World Bahrain from September 8 and concluded on Wednesday, featuring participation from 100 male and female students representing 15 Gulf universities.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Kuwaiti team emerged second out of 21 teams participating in the contest. The competition centered on devising practical and innovative solutions to address environmental and energy challenges with the aim of achieving Net Zero Carbon. The team from Kuwait University demonstrated their potential by proposing actionable strategies to counter these global issues.

The team's research paper presented a vision for Kuwait to achieve full net zero carbon by 2026. This ambitious goal could be realized by relying on 70 percent renewable energy and 20 percent nuclear energy, as outlined in their proposal. This innovative approach underscores the team's commitment to sustainable energy solutions and positions Kuwait as a leader in environmental initiatives within the region.
