Kuwait to Host 8th WPC Energy Youth Forum Under Patronage of Minister of Oil


Kuwait city: Under the patronage and attendance of Minister of Oil Tareq Al-Roumi, and with sponsorship from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), Kuwait is set to host the eighth World Petroleum Council (WPC) Energy Youth Forum on October 22 and 23. The event, focused on youth engagement in the global energy sector, will be held at the Jumeirah Hotel in Messila, Kuwait, under the theme “Empowering the Future: Connecting Young Professionals, Ideas and Knowledge.”



According to Kuwait News Agency, the forum will be organized around three thematic blocks: “Youth as Change Makers,” “Smart and Sustainable Innovation,” and “Strategic Leadership in Energy.” Minister Al-Roumi expressed Kuwait’s commitment to empowering youth and fostering innovation within the energy sector. He emphasized the importance of investing in young professionals and advancing the global energy dialogue.



Dr. Sheikh Nimr Al-Malik Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of Kuwait’s Ministry of Oil, highlighted the forum as an opportunity to equip young people with essential skills and knowledge to drive transformation in the energy industry. He noted that the initiative strengthens international cooperation and prepares future leaders to address upcoming challenges and opportunities.



Ahmad Al-Eidan, CEO of Kuwait Oil Company, expressed pride in hosting the event, emphasizing the company’s focus on empowering youth, whom he described as a valuable asset. Al-Eidan reiterated KOC’s mission to contribute to the forum’s success and support young people in the energy sector by providing necessary tools and a conducive environment for skill enhancement.



Pedro Miras, President of WPC Energy, acknowledged the crucial role of young professionals in driving innovation and sustainability in the energy sector. He stressed the importance of investing in future generations to ensure a skilled and forward-thinking workforce as the industry transitions to low-carbon models. Miras praised Kuwait’s strategic position in the global energy landscape and its investment in education and innovation.



Shamus Hardie, Chair of the WPC Energy Young Professionals Committee, expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with the Kuwaiti National Committee to host the Youth Forum. He highlighted the platform’s role in offering opportunities for students, graduates, and professionals to foster global connections and contribute to dialogue within the transitioning energy sector.



The Youth Forum aims to provide a platform for students and early-career professionals worldwide to exchange perspectives, connect with senior industry leaders, and contribute to shaping the future of energy.
