Kuwait to Draft Convention for Rare Disease Care

Kuwait city: Kuwait is taking significant steps towards enshrining the principles of dignity, protection, and equal access to diagnosis, care, and treatment for individuals with rare diseases into international law. This initiative is being spearheaded by Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, who emphasized the importance of establishing a convention to ensure these principles are upheld worldwide.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Ministry of Education announced that the new academic year 2025-2026 will commence tomorrow. This marks the start of working hours across schools offering general, religious, and special education. Meanwhile, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation reported a decline in the price of Kuwaiti oil, which fell by 26 cents to USD 71.34 per barrel on Friday, compared to USD 71.60 per barrel on Thursday.

In Gaza, the latest Israeli offensives have resulted in 68 fatalities among Gazans, with an additional 362 individuals sustaining injuries. This information was provided by local health authorities. In response to the situation in Gaza, Philippe Lazzarini, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Commissioner-General of UNRWA, stated that the ongoing events have crossed 'all red lines'.
