Rome: Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Sheikha Ambassador Jawaher Ibrahim Al-Duaij Al-Sabah on Monday emphasized the importance of bolstering cooperation between Kuwait and Italy in the field of human rights. She highlighted the necessity of supporting global efforts to empower women and enhance their participation in peacebuilding and conflict resolution at both regional and international levels.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Sheikha Jawaher Al-Sabah stated that her discussions with several Italian officials reflected the unique bilateral relations between Kuwait and Italy, showcasing their ongoing development across various areas. The meetings, attended by Kuwait's Ambassador to Italy Nasser Al-Qahtani, featured continuous coordination and dialogue between the two nations.
She explained that these talks occurred alongside her participation in a high-level dialogue focused on advancing peace, stability, security, and the involvement of women mediators, negotiators, and peacebuilders, held in Rome from January 20 to 21. During her visit, Sheikha Jawaher met with Italy's Deputy Director-General for the United Nations, Human Rights and International Organizations Department, Alessandra Molina, and Coordinator for Women Peace and Security Luca Fratini.
Sheikha Jawaher underscored the crucial role women play in sustaining peace and enhancing its success, noting that women are significantly affected by conflicts, which underscores the need for their inclusion in decision-making processes. The meetings stressed the importance of coordination between Kuwait and Italy, particularly through their membership in the UN Human Rights Council, to support multilateral actions and bolster human rights protection.
Italian officials commended Kuwait's efforts in promoting human rights and women's empowerment, acknowledging its contributions to the Women, Peace and Security agenda and confirming ongoing collaboration in relevant international forums. Sheikha Jawaher expressed that the discussions represent Kuwait's dedication to strengthening bilateral relations and fostering international cooperation to achieve security, stability, and sustainable peace.
