Kuwait Speaker receives grilling motion against Prime Minister

National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, on Sunday, said that he received a grilling motion from MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri against His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

In a press statement, Al-Ghanim affirmed that he followed all regulatory procedures by informing His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah about the submitted motion.

The motion paper includes five issues related to violation of the constitutional commitment particularly with respect of article 100 of the Constitution, violation of Law 2/2016 concerned with the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Public Authority.

It also touches on the failure of His Highness the premier to perform his constitutional duties stipulated in article 127 of the Constitution on mismanagement of profits in several state bodies.

The fifth axis is related to what the MP saw as “failure to respect the provisions of articles 30 and 31 of the Constitution when issuing a travel ban on Kuwaitis, and their first-degree relatives if they do not receive anti-coronavirus vaccine set by the Ministry of Health”.

As per Article 135 of the National Assembly’s Statute, a query request against the prime minister or cabinet ministers shall be debated only eight days after filing it.
