Tokyo: The State of Kuwait is eagerly anticipating its participation in the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, aiming to showcase its rich history and traditions. This was articulated by Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi during his meeting with Japan’s Minister for the World Expo 2025 Yoshikata Ito in Tokyo on Saturday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Minister Al-Mutairi, who also serves as the State Minister for Youth Affairs, discussed the upcoming global event’s preparations, scheduled for April, with Minister Ito. Kuwait’s participation in the Expo 2025 comes 55 years after it first partook in the Osaka Expo in 1970, coinciding with a celebration of over 60 years of cooperation and friendship between Kuwait and Japan.
Minister Al-Mutairi emphasized that Japan’s success in this grand event is intertwined with Kuwait’s success. He highlighted Kuwait’s significance as the first Arab country and eighth globally to sign the Expo participation contract. Al-Mutairi also mentioned that Kuwait intends to reveal its Expo pavilion in a press conference in Japan, underscoring the robust bilateral relations between the two nations.
The Kuwaiti embassy in Japan received commendation from Al-Mutairi for its efforts in facilitating visits by Kuwaiti delegations to the pavilion in preparation for the Expo. During his visit to Japan, the Minister expressed his commitment to overseeing the latest developments related to the construction of the Kuwaiti pavilion, ensuring it meets high standards.
Minister Ito praised the unique design of the Kuwaiti pavilion, expressing hope that it would captivate Expo visitors. He emphasized that the Expo would enhance Japan’s global connections. Ito also expressed gratitude for Minister Al-Mutairi’s invitation to Yoshihiro Murai, Governor of Miyagi Prefecture, who visited Kuwait and participated in celebrations marking Kuwait as the 2025 capital of Arab media and culture.
Additionally, Minister Ito acknowledged Kuwait’s support to Japan during the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, remarking that this humanitarian gesture would remain memorable for the Japanese people. Kuwaiti Ambassador to Japan Sami Al-Zamanan reiterated Kuwait’s commitment to a successful Expo participation, organizing a meeting for Arab Ambassadors in Tokyo with Japanese Foreign Ministry personnel and the Expo organizing committee to coordinate Arab participation and support Japan in the Expo.
Al-Zamanan assured that the Kuwaiti embassy would strive to ensure successful participation in the Expo, while also appreciating the Japanese cooperation and support extended to Kuwait and its pavilion. Several other Kuwaiti and Japanese officials attended the meeting.
