Kuwait Renews Commitment to Strengthening Media’s Role

Kuwait city: Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Duaij Al-Sabah affirmed Kuwait's continued commitment to strengthening media's role in disseminating the principles of international humanitarian law.

According to Kuwait News Agency, this affirmation was made by Sheikha Jawaher Al-Sabah during a statement on Tuesday, at a workshop organized by the Permanent National Committee for International Humanitarian Law. The workshop was coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Human Rights' Affairs Department.

The workshop, titled "Media and International Humanitarian Law," is a collaborative effort involving the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Kuwait Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies. The event is scheduled to continue until Wednesday.

Sheikha Jawaher Al-Sabah emphasized that empowering media professionals with necessary legal knowledge is crucial for ensuring their professional and responsible work. This is particularly important for their protection while on duty in conflict zones.

She further explained that the workshop is a reflection of Kuwait's commitment to supporting human rights and international law. This is achieved through awareness-raising and capacity-building programs, as well as through exchanging expertise and knowledge.
