Kuwait city: The Public Authority for Manpower has announced a new mechanism to regulate the working hours of employees in private schools, capping the duration at seven actual working hours per day. This decision is aimed at improving the working environment in the private education sector and ensuring the stability of the educational process.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the new mechanism was proposed by the Private Schools Union of Kuwait (PSUK) and approved by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yusuf Al-Sabah. It was introduced following a comprehensive study by relevant departments. The study examined the unique nature of work in educational institutions, which requires the continuous presence of both teaching and administrative staff to maintain the continuity and organization of the educational process.
The Authority noted that the decision is based on Article (65) of the Labor Law, which defines daily working hours and emphasizes that the number of working hours should not fall below the legal minimum. The new system will consist of seven consecutive working hours per day without a break, in accordance with Article (65), Paragraph (b) of Labor Law No. (6) of 2010, allowing such an arrangement for technical or organizational reasons.
The implementation of the new mechanism is seen as a step forward in enhancing efficiency within private schools. It aims to provide a flexible and well-regulated work environment that protects employees' rights while supporting the quality of education in the private sector.
