Kuwait city: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah chaired a significant ministerial committee meeting at Bayan Palace to focus on the implementation of agreements and memoranda of understanding between Kuwait and China. This marked the 29th meeting dedicated to tracking the progress of these cooperative projects.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting centered on evaluating the progress of developmental projects outlined in the MoUs, with particular attention to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, electricity systems, renewable energy, low-carbon recycling, housing, environmental infrastructure, free zones, and economic zones. Leaders from the Ministry of Public Works provided a comprehensive presentation on the advancement of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, detailing the implementation phases involving Chinese state-owned companies and the adherence to the planned schedule.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy also presented on the development of electrical power and renewable energy in collaboration with a Chinese state-owned company. This joint alliance aims to enhance electricity and renewable energy production in the Abdaliya and Shagaya projects, currently in their third and fourth phases.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Defence shared insights into its involvement in combating desertification and its coordination with Chinese entities and other state authorities. Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Hamed Al-Mishari reported on the progress of workers' and housing cities, the low-carbon green waste recycling system, and the interaction with relevant Chinese companies.
His Highness instructed committee members to ensure the rigorous implementation of agreements with major Chinese companies, stressing the importance of following strategic plans to meet the targeted outcomes within specified timelines. Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Samih Jawhar Hayat, noted the committee's discussion on major development projects and the agendas of upcoming Chinese delegations, reaffirming Kuwait's dedication to joint initiatives and reinforcing bilateral cooperation.
The meeting saw participation from several high-profile Kuwaiti officials, including Head of the Prime Minister's Diwan Abdulaziz Al-Dakheel, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and other key leaders from various ministries.
