Kuwait PM Chairs Meeting on Mega Development Projects


Kuwait city: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah chaired the 32nd meeting of the ministerial committee tasked with following up on the implementation of major development projects in the country.



According to Kuwait News Agency, during the meeting, His Highness the Prime Minister emphasized Kuwait’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with countries with strategic partnerships, notably the People’s Republic of China. The aim is to advance mega development projects by expanding partnerships to support development plans and strengthen investment, economic, trade, and industrial integration efforts.



He highlighted the anticipated official visit by the Vice-President of the People’s Republic of China to Kuwait next month. The visit will include high-level discussions with the Kuwaiti political leadership on the historical strategic relations between the two countries. The talks will focus on promoting coordination, cooperation, and consultation, particularly on the implementation of previously signed agreements and memorandums of understanding.



These agreements are intended to facilitate major joint ventures, promoting friendly relations based on mutual respect and confidence between the countries’ leaderships and governments, and pushing economic, trade, and investment cooperation to new levels.



His Highness the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of continuing efforts to achieve comprehensive development goals under the direction of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. This involves a governmental commitment to carrying out mega development projects as planned.



He also instructed the committee to enhance efforts to diversify the economic base and develop promising sectors through coordination with relevant government bodies and companies, ensuring the smooth implementation of projects.



The ongoing and future phases of the mega development projects require close coordination and concerted efforts from concerned agencies to meet goals and output requirements effectively and within a specific timetable.



Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and committee rapporteur Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat elaborated on the outcomes of the high-level ministerial committee’s meetings regarding the implementation of major development projects.



The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Head of His Highness the Prime Minister’s Diwan Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil, Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Minister of State for Municipal and Housing Affairs Abdullatif Hamed Al-Mishari, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr. Sabeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Ateeq Al-Majed, and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and committee rapporteur Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat.
