Kuwait PM Chairs 33rd Ministerial Committee Meeting on Development Projects

Kuwait city: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah chaired the 33rd meeting of the ministerial committee tasked with reviewing the state's major development projects at Bayan Palace. The meeting addressed the outcomes of the recent visit by Vice President of the People's Republic of China, Han Zheng, which took place on November 1 and 2, focusing on enhancing bilateral strategic ties in several sectors.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the discussions centered on the seven agreements and Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) signed on September 22, 2023, during the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to China, where he met with President Xi Jinping. These agreements were considered significant in strengthening comprehensive partnerships, particularly in joint projects across various fields.

Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and rapporteur of the committee, Ambassador Sameeh Hayat, highlighted the meeting's focus on current and future cooperation stages, aiming to implement more of the previously signed agreements. Key topics included the development of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, advancements in the power grid and renewable energy, oasification projects, housing, and infrastructure development.

The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including Chief of His Highness the Prime Minister's Diwan Abdulaziz Al-Dakheel, Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Meshari, and Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem, who also serves as Acting Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs. Other attendees included Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Saleh Al-Majed, and Ambassador Sameeh Hayat.
