Kuwait Participates in Emergency Arab League Meeting on West Bank

Kuwait city: Kuwait, represented by Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi, participated Wednesday in an emergency meeting at the level of permanent representatives to address recent Israeli occupation decisions to expand settlements in the West Bank. UAE Ambassador to Cairo and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, chair of the session Hamad Al-Zaabi condemned the occupation's measures aimed at imposing unlawful sovereignty and expanding settlements in the occupied territories.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Zaabi warned of the serious repercussions on regional stability and prospects for peace. He stressed the rejection of any infringement on the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. He called for an immediate halt to settlement activities and urged the international community, the United Nations, and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities.

Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector Ambassador Fayez Mustafa described the decisions as an unprecedented escalation. He stated that they entrench settlement expansion and impose de facto annexation of large parts of the West Bank in violation of international law and Security Council Resolution 2334. Mustafa added that the measures undermine the peace process and effectively eliminate the two-state solution, warning that continued international silence would fuel further tension and instability.

Palestine's Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk said the measures include land seizures, home demolitions, and expanded settler control, including in Areas A and B. Al-Aklouk warned they threaten the legal and historical status of Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron and restrict freedom of worship. He called on the international community to move beyond condemnation toward concrete political, economic, and legal measures. Al-Aklouk reaffirmed that the Palestinian people will continue their efforts to establish an independent state with Arab and international support.
