Cairo: The 67th session of the Arab Committee for standardization of military terms and concepts began Sunday with Kuwait’s participation to discuss unified procedures for joint Arab military operations.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Arab League Military Affairs Director Minister Plenipotentiary Tareq Abdulsalam highlighted the current challenges facing Arab national security, which have evolved to include complex issues such as cross-border terrorist threats. He pointed out the growing threats from cyber warfare and regional interventions, emphasizing the urgent need for coordinated military planning among Arab states.
Abdulsalam stated that the Arab League’s Department of Arab Affairs and National Security, through its Military Affairs Directorate, will continue to support meetings and symposiums aimed at achieving strategic cooperation goals.
Head of the Qatari delegation and chair of the current session, Brigadier Thawab Al-Qahtani, expressed optimism for advancements in the study of unifying Arab military work. He mentioned that prior research and the use of the latest technological and software tools are crucial for this progress.
Al-Qahtani also acknowledged that the previous session had completed a comprehensive review of military terms, concepts, symbols, and abbreviations approved in earlier meetings, expressing gratitude to the delegates for their efforts in unifying these critical references.
Kuwait is represented by a delegation from the Military Education Authority, headed by Colonel Mohammad Al-Asousi. The delegation includes Colonel Mohammad Al-Qahtani, Colonel Abdulkarim Al-Ibrahim, and Legal Officer Major Mohammad Al-Khayyat.
