Kuwait City: Several individuals, forming a gang stealing bank cards data, were arrested for acts of unlawfully representing government bodies and illegally purchasing smartphones and smuggling them abroad, said the Ministry of Interior on Wednesday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Ministry of Interior's Public Relations Department stated that investigations led the police to a gang of individuals specialized in stealing bank card data. Tools used by the felons to commit their crimes were discovered during the arrest.
Interrogation with the gang members resulted in confessions to their crimes, which included creating fake websites for government entities such as the Public Authority for Civil Identification (PACI), the department confirmed. The suspects were subsequently sent to face due process.
The Ministry of Interior urged citizens and residents to take extra precautions while surfing the internet and ensure that any online transactions are conducted through legitimate websites.
