Kuwait Justice Minister Lauds New Lawyers’ Law

Kuwait city: The Minister of Justice in Kuwait has expressed approval of the newly enacted lawyers' law, highlighting its significance in the current legal landscape. Asked about the increased litigation fees, the minister attributed this rise to the substantial number of lawsuits being brought before the courts.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the minister explained that the courts are handling an influx of approximately half a million new cases annually, in addition to dealing with one million cases accumulated from previous years. This burgeoning caseload has led to a significant rise in the number of appeals at the courts of cassation, which has reached 81,000 to date.

Justice Al-Sumait also mentioned that the new family law's blueprint, crafted by a committee of senior judges and prosecutors, has been forwarded to the Kuwait Bar Association for their input and opinion on the matter.
