Kuwait city: Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi, participated in Arab-Chinese discussions held in Beijing to prepare for the second Arab-China Summit, scheduled for mid-2026 in China. The League of Arab States announced in a press release that a delegation of permanent representatives from member states, along with officials from the General Secretariat led by Iraq's Ambassador to the Arab League, Qahtan Khalaf, met with Chinese officials to discuss arrangements for the upcoming summit.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the delegation met with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu on the first day of the visit, which was initiated at China's invitation. Both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. On the following day, the delegation engaged in consultations with senior Chinese officials, focusing on preparations for the summit.
The visit, which will continue until January 16, is a result of recommendations from the 20th meeting of senior officials of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum held in Morocco in May 2025. The forum aims to facilitate discussions on the summit's agenda and anticipated outcomes. The program includes meetings in both Beijing and Shanghai, with the Arab delegation expressing hope that the visit will help establish a shared vision for the summit's outcomes and enhance Arab-Chinese cooperation.
