Kuwait Inaugurates Pavilion at Osaka’s 2025 World Expo to Highlight Heritage and Innovation

Osaka: Kuwait's Information and Culture Minister Abdurrahman Al-Mutairi emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Kuwait and Japan during the inauguration of Kuwait's pavilion at Osaka's 2025 World Exposition. The event, which officially commenced earlier in the day, underscores a blend of heritage and innovation.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Minister Al-Mutairi underscored Kuwait's dedication to supporting arts, culture, and education while fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, especially among the younger generation. He highlighted the sustained friendship and partnership between Kuwait and Japan, which benefits both nations. Al-Mutairi also serves as the Minister of State for Youth Affairs.

The 2025 World Exposition in Osaka is set to be a six-month event running through October 13, with participation from a record 158 countries and regions. The expo, themed "Designing Future Society for our Lives," showcases various cultures and technologies on Yumeshima, an artificial island in Osaka Bay. The Japan Association anticipates around 28.2 million visitors to the event.

Located inside the Grand Ring, the world's largest wooden structure, the pavilions embody the expo's "Unity in Diversity" concept. During the opening ceremony, Emperor Naruhito expressed hope that the expo would inspire global cooperation for a sustainable future. Kuwait's pavilion, named Visionary Lighthouse, features two narrative layers: one focused on heritage and tradition, and the other on future aspirations.

The pavilion offers an immersive journey through Kuwait's history, present, and future across four showrooms that integrate tradition with advanced technology. A significant area, known as 'the pearl,' commemorates Kuwait's pearl diving industry and seafaring heritage. Each space within the pavilion employs interactive technologies and Artificial Intelligence to convey unique stories.

Kuwait's participation in the expo is part of a longstanding connection with Japan, having been one of only four Arab countries to take part in the 1970 Osaka Expo, which attracted over 64 million visitors.
