Kuwait Health Minister Emphasizes Commitment to Peace Initiatives

Cairo: Kuwait's Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi affirmed the State of Kuwait's commitment to supporting regional and international initiatives for development and peace. This statement was made during the 72nd session of the regional committee of the World Health Organization, which took place in Cairo and was attended by health ministers and representatives from member states.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Al-Awadhi highlighted that the approach stems from the guidelines of Kuwait's leadership, which advocates that investing in human capital is essential for shaping the future of nations. During the session, the conferees reviewed the annual report of the WHO regional director general, which detailed the organization's efforts over the past two years in addressing complex regional humanitarian and health crises affecting over 115 million people in need of aid.

The minister praised the World Health Organization's efforts in the region, particularly its three main initiatives: improving access to medical products, investing in sustainable medical personnel, and accelerating responses to health issues. He also noted the organization's success in combating polio, advancing psychological treatment programs, and addressing non-communicable diseases.

In related remarks, Dr. Hisham Kalandar, the assistant undersecretary for external health services, emphasized to KUNA the importance of the minister's speech on enhancing inclusive medical systems and expanding digital transformation within the sector.
