Kuwait City: Kuwait's Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya revealed on Monday that the Kuwaiti Embassy in Syria would be re-opened "very soon".
According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Yahya made the statement to reporters during a Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) ceremony, which he attended and sponsored. The event marked the 20th anniversary of launching the program aimed at rehabilitating and training fresh engineers and architects.
The minister highlighted ongoing preparations for a visit to Lebanon and reiterated Kuwait's supportive stance towards the Syrian people. He emphasized that Kuwait's aid to the Syrian people is continuously ongoing.
On March 15, 2012, a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "in harmony with the GCC States' position and due to deteriorating security conditions in Syria, Kuwait decided to shut down its embassy in Damascus and ordered its diplomats to leave Syria."
