Kuwait Emphasizes Strengthening Arab Integration in Transport and Logistics

Kuwait city: Kuwait's Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan has highlighted the importance of unifying efforts to enhance Arab integration in the transport and logistics sector, describing it as fundamental to economic development and regional connectivity. Dr. Al-Mashaan made these remarks while presiding over the 38th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Transport.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Mashaan outlined the meeting's agenda, which includes strategic items that form a roadmap for advancing the Arab transport system. Key topics include support for the Palestinian economy and the development of infrastructure and essential services in Jerusalem, reflecting the region's steadfast position. Other agenda items focus on standardizing axle-load and dimension regulations for trucks operating between Arab states, activating the unified Arab land transport digital portal, and incorporating smart and sustainable transport components into national strategies.

Al-Mashaan further noted that the agenda emphasizes enhancing cooperation in maritime, rail, and river transport to improve port connectivity, logistics efficiency, and partnerships with the Arab private sector. The agenda also encourages investment in modern technologies to boost operational performance and reduce costs. During Kuwait's presidency of the council, Al-Mashaan affirmed the country's commitment to supporting joint Arab cooperation and urged collective action to turn resolutions into concrete achievements.

The meeting has drawn participation from Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry Kamel Al-Wazeer, other Arab transport ministers, and Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs of the Arab League, Ambassador Dr. Ali Al-Malki.
