Kuwait Dive Team Joins Global Effort for World Cleanup Day

Kuwait city: Kuwait Dive Team's Environmental Voluntary Foundation (EVF) participated in a campaign to clean the Kuwait Towers shore on Saturday, alongside a group of volunteers, to mark World Cleanup Day. The team successfully removed numerous plastic and microplastic wastes, as well as pieces of old carpets.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the team's International Relations Officer, Dr. Dari Al-Huwail, stated that the team partakes annually in the World Cleanup Day campaign, which takes place on the third Saturday of September globally. The campaign's objective is to collect and clean waste from beaches and waterways and to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the cleanliness of the marine environment. The dangers of plastic waste pose a threat to thousands of marine creatures, birds, and turtles.

Dr. Al-Huwail explained that the day is organized in cooperation with non-profit organizations and individual volunteers. The aim is to collect and record waste to help understand its origins, find solutions, and combat it. He emphasized the team's ongoing efforts to protect and rehabilitate the marine environment and clean the coasts periodically throughout the year, as these areas serve as tourist destinations and help maintain ecological balance.

Dr. Al-Huwail also acknowledged the combined efforts of various public and private institutions in their collaboration to protect and preserve the marine environment. This cooperation reflects environmental awareness and a commitment to ensuring the sustainability of the environment for future generations.
